A Guided Tour of Firle Place followed by Lunch at the Ram Inn

Nestling in the foothills of the beautiful South Downs, Firle Place has been the seat of the Gage family since 1475. The house showcases remarkable collections of Old Masters including portraits by Van Dyck, Reynolds, and Gainsborough, complemented by an ensemble of English and European furniture and an impressive display of Sèvres porcelain. The Georgian interiors remain largely unchanged since the 18th century and the house is surrounded by a 300-acre park, landscaped by Capability Brown.
On arrival by 10.30am, we will enjoy tea/coffee and biscuits in the tea room/terrace before embarking on our private guided tours of the house.

Following the tours, we have booked the Stable at the nearby Ram Inn for lunch, the menus for which will be available nearer the time for pre-order, and we do hope you will join us there. Again there is ample parking next to the Inn which is a very short drive away from Firle Place.The village itself contains several listed buildings, including the 500-year-old Ram Inn and St. Peter’s Church (12th century) with its medieval wall paintings.
Travel on this occasion will be by personal transport. There is ample parking on site. It is expected that some members of the committee will be able to provide seating for some of the group so please request a lift when booking, and if you are coming along and can offer assistance in this area, your contribution will be appreciated.PLEASE NOTE: numbers are limited to 30 for this visit, so bookings are on a first requested, first reserved basis.
